Frailty Thy Name Is Woman was the first American retrospective of the work of Sue Sparks. A student at Chouinard (School of Art) with Ed Ruscha, Larry Bell, Billy Al Bengsten and Joe Goode, Sparks was a rising artist in the 60’s until mental illness derailed her. Though hidden away from the spotlight of the world, Sparks continued to create obsessively and furiously, through painting, drawing, photography, quilting, terra-forming, doll-making and writing.

This exhibit gathered together works spanning six decades.
