23 Entryways Home

23 Entryways Into My Mind is a series of installations begun on September 7, 2000. Each installation offers others an opportunity to step out of their own minds and into mine. The series is, like many of the works comprising it, a project expected to last my lifetime.
23 Entryways Into My Mind is an exploration of how human beings understand identity, their own and others. In what ways we can define who a human being is. In this case The MVM will spend my life exploring ways in which others might be able to try and understand what might constitute my identity.

Portal 3: The Museum of Viral Memory, the UFM Archive presented in The Henry Wing was a temporary building on the campus of California College of the Arts housing seven full days from my 35th year.

Between September 2000 and September 2001, I scored 23 compositions for field recording. Then, wearing concealed microphones, between September 7, 2001 and September 7, 2002 I recorded over three thousand hours of my life. In addition, detailed diaries were kept, and 27 book boxes of ephemera were collected.
Over the following four years this material was digitized and manipulated to realize the initial 23 compositions. An additional 12 compositions were composed during this phase for a total of 35 CDs, sold as a single edition box set in 2006 under the title Une Fleuve Maudit.

Portal 3 is an archive of seven days, 168 hours, from November, 2001

The Henry Wing was displayed at California College of the Arts as part of their MFA graduate show.
